Stamp or punch presses are machines that cut holes in material – usually sheet metal – or otherwise change the shape or size of that material to aid in the manufacturing of certain machinery parts of components that fit into a larger assembly.
But how do punch presses work, and how might this process help you to complete your unique project? In this article, the team at Cambridge Dynamics – specialists in the design and manufacture of custom automation equipment – explain the process that takes place when a machine of this kind is utilised.
The Punch Press Process
Our automated punch press machines use CNC (Computer Numerical Control) technology to press and cut metal coil and sheet metal into exceptionally precise shapes.
The specialist team members at Cambridge Dynamics are capable of programming in dimensions to fabricate components that are accurate to within a fraction of a millimetre – and the same shapes may be replicated with total precision any number of times.
Using the same equipment, we are also capable of embossing, bending, blanking, coining and flanging in response to even the most exacting specifications, in order to create unique, purpose designed parts for any and all applications.
Punch Presses and Other Services at Cambridge Dynamics
Based in Huntingdon in Cambridgeshire but serving the whole of the UK, Cambridge Dynamics can look back at over 40 years of precision manufacturing and fabrication, with our team including specialists in the areas of mechanical, electrical, mechatronic and pneumatic design and engineering.
We have continued to develop techniques and design processes over the decades that have kept us at the forefront of our industry, expertly completing the manufacture, assembly, testing and finishing of a range of parts and components time and time again.
Our precision punch press and stamping techniques and tools will allow us to respond to even the most exacting of specifications and requirements, replicating designs as many times as required to fulfill a range of order sizes – from a single part to hundreds of items.
Cambridge Dynamics can also manufacture components using other ball screw presses – including assembly presses, composite presses and custom press solutions.
We also regularly provide sophisticated CNC milling, turning and profile cutting solutions, wire EDM/punch & die techniques and frame design and fabrications services.
Our automation specialists can help you with machine design, the production of robot cells, control panel design and build and the testing and development of prototypes.
We can provide bespoke solutions to any challenge – so don’t hesitate to ask us for advice and assistance when developing your specification. To find out more about what we can do for you, simply get in touch with us today using our online contact form.
